Y6 Survival Day - 27th Feb 23
Dear Parent/Carer
We have arranged for the staff from the POPs Outdoor Activity Centre, based in Victoria (Rosehill) Park, to lead a ‘Survival Day’ for the Y6 children. It will take place on Monday 27th February 2023.
Miss Bruce’s class will leave after morning registration (08:50) and will be back in school in time for lunch. They will eat their lunch as normal at school. Mr. Donnelly & Mrs. Downing’s class will leave just prior to lunchtime (11:40), they will require a packed lunch to eat at POPs in a rucksack. The children will return back to school in time for the end of the school day. Children who are entitled to free school meals will have a packed lunch provided for them to take.
During their session the children will experience a ‘Survival Day’ linked to the current Y6 novel ‘The Extinction Trials.’ The children will have the opportunity to participate in a range of activities and get into the role of the characters from the novel: fire lighting, shelter building, setting & following trials, tracking, team-work etc.
The children will need to wear suitable warm clothing (warm coat, hat, gloves etc) and suitable footwear (trainers, walking boots, sturdy shoes) as it can be muddy and we will be outside regardless of the weather!
The children do not need to wear school uniform. The total cost of the trip for each child is £4.67. Payment can be made via the School Money System either online or by using a PayPoint slip (which you would need to collect a barcode card from a member of the reception team). We would like all payments to be received by Wednesday 22nd February please.
If you would like your child to attend this Survival Day then please complete the consent form below by 22nd February.
If we do not receive funding to cover the costs of the visit, the visit may not be able to take place. If you have any questions regarding the trip, please contact the Y6 team.
Yours sincerely
Mrs. Downing, Mr. Donnelly & Miss. Bruce
