Year 5 Trip - Manvers Lake
Dear Parent/Carer,
We have arranged an absolutely amazing opportunity for the children to visit Manvers Lake on
Wednesday 5th July and participate in some water based activities as well as take part in some
wonderful learning opportunities exploring the beautiful sights and surroundings.
We believe every child/young adult should be encouraged to experience outdoor activities and
enjoy the wealth of benefits that getting out of the classroom and into the great outdoors brings.
This includes improvements and development in personal and social skills, independence,
resilience and teamwork are amongst a few. Improvement in physical health and mental wellbeing
come hand in hand with this.
Some of the activities the children will be taking part in, on the water and around the lake, are:
● Canoe rafting
● Dragon Boating
● Stand up Paddle Boarding
● Sketching
● Exploration and identification of the wildlife
These wonderful activities are all linked to our class novel ‘Kensuke’s Kingdom’, which the children
are all thoroughly enjoying. The main character Michael sails around the world on a Yacht and we
wanted our children to experience what it is like to be on the water.
No specialist equipment for this trip would need to be provided by yourselves. We would only
require the children to bring a towel, swimsuit, change of clothing and a packed lunch (More details
will follow).
The cost to parents/carers is £20.50 for each child and this would need to be paid before the 16th
June in order for the trip to go ahead. If we do not receive funding to cover the costs of the visit, the
visit may not be able to take place.
Before we confirm the trip, we would like to ask parents/carers to complete the attached google
form to see if it is viable for the trip to go ahead.
Could you please complete the attached google form no later than Tuesday 22nd of May 2023.
