Summer 2 - Week 1 Update

Summer 2 - Week 1 - Update

Summer 1 Complete and wow what an amazing half term it’s been!!

Firstly, Miss Brown and Mrs Pritchard would like to say a huge well done to the children for their hard work this half term. We have really upped the challenge and each and everyone of them has stepped up and embraced the change. We have been very impressed with their maturity and confidence and can see that they are ready to embark on their new journey into Year 4 (although we aren’t quite ready to wave them off just yet – they’re stuck with us a while longer).

This next half term (and the final one for this academic year) see us take part in STEM week, sports day and many exciting projects.

This week, the children also completed their sponsored walk to raise money for their upcoming residential to Castleton in Year 4. The Y3 children completed over 500 laps of the mile track – Well done guys!!

We are now collecting sponsor money so if your child has been sponsored could you please send any money into school by Friday 7th of June please. This is so we can calculate the total raised and work out the final amount per child that you will have to pay in order to attend the trip. We thank you in advance for your generosity and for supporting the school. Residentials are a great experience and something we massively advocate here at Rosehill. They memories they make last a lifetime.

Notices:

  • We still have a number of our parents/carers who have not connected to our class dojo. This is a great resource for parents to see all the wonderful things our classes get up to whilst at school. Please check your emails and get in contact if you have any problems logging in.
  • Sponsor money for the Year 4 residential to Castleton needs to be in school by Friday 7th June.

  • All children need their PE kit on Tuesday and Thursday this week.
  • All children need their library books on Wednesday with reading journals. Reading journals should be in school every day along with a water bottle.
  • We have a number of children coming to school in the incorrect uniform. Please can parent/carers ensure children are wearing the correct items. This information can be found on our website or by contacting the school office.

This week's learning:

  • In English, the children are starting a new genre of writing and will be looking at the features and comparing different texts.
  • In Maths, we will be learning all continuing our work on money. It would be great if the children could be practising at home and learning what the different coins are, spending money in shops, working out totals and change given.
  • In reading, we will be looking at a non-fiction book about the Amazon Rainforest linking to our geography work.
  • In PSHE, we are continuing to learn about how we can keep ourselves safe.
  • We move onto Geography this half term where we will be learning all about the Amazon Rainforest and River.
  • In Science, we will be continuing our topic all about plants.
  • Music is back on the weekly timetable and the children will be producing and performing a range of songs and using musical instruments.
  • RE and DT also returns to the timetable this half term, the children will be looking at different bible stories and in DT they will be making a textiles item.
