End of Autumn 1 Week 3 Messages and Updates

The countdown to Kingswood has started!

End of Autumn 1 Week 3 Messages and Updates
We've had a wonderful week in Year 5 with lots of exciting learning taking place!

Highlights this week have included another great set of spelling test results which shows the children have been practising at home, investigating electrical insulators and conductors, designing printing blocks in art and writing our own persuasive leaflets in English.

Another positive to note is the logging of home reading using boom reader as nearly everyone in year 5 has started doing this! What a great effort from children and parents- well done everyone!

Notices:

All children need their PE kits for Monday and Thursday although we do ask them to be in school all week if possible. Earrings should be removed before school on these mornings.

All children need their library books on Wednesday.

We're now only 1 week away from our residential visit so any last minute kit checks need to be done next week as well as collecting any outstanding medical forms for children who need to take any form of medication whilst on the residential with us.

Next week's learning:
- In maths, we will continue our learning of place value.
- In English, we will start learning about a new genre - recounts in the form of a letter.
- In reading, we will continue to analyse the story 'Malamander'.
- In history, we will study the significance of the battle of Marathon.
- In Spanish, we will continue to learn about pets.
- In art, we will create our own printing blocks inspired by patterns from Ancient Greece.
- In computing, we will continue to learn about computer systems.
- In science, we are having our first Tech She Can lesson - very exciting!
- In P.E. we will continue developing our skills in tag rugby.
