"Happy Little Trees"
So there was this artist called Monet, who really loved plants. In 1893, he bought some land with a pond near his house in Giverny and created a beautiful water-lily garden to inspire his painting. In 1899, he painted a series of eighteen paintings of a wooden footbridge over the pond, and this one that you see here was one of the twelve that he completed that summer. This painting is pretty special because it's the only one in the series that's vertical, which makes the water lilies and their reflections on the pond stand out.
So this afternoon we have been trying to copy the style of Monet in his art by practising our skills. Before we attempt our own pieces very soon.
