Communication Update

First of all, I hope you have all enjoyed the last weekend of the summer holidays. The staff are all in tears here while I’m sure you are skipping around the house in anticipation…

I write today to update you on 2 matters both closely related to communication between home and school.

Email Contact to Class Teachers Moving Forward

The first one is simply to say that, after much discussion with the whole teaching team during our September INSET, we have decided any communication between Teachers and Home should go through the school admin contact email: info@rosehill.org.uk

This decision has been taken primarily because this is a shared inbox and all 3 of the admin team can check it and forward information on to the relevant person whereas, a member of staff could be off work or on a course and not checking their inbox. If this was the case, potentially, a really important issue could go unchecked leading to much frustration.

You may of course call the office or try to catch our child’s teacher before or after school however, please understand that we are not always free to speak to you as we often have other meetings or commitments to attend to.

Twitter: Sharing Your Child’s Journey Through School

While we are shortly to release our new school website and will post updates and pictures there, we understand the power of a platform like Twitter to instantly keep you up to date with your child’s learning. Using an app like Twitter also makes it easier for the teachers and staff to share content seamlessly and this really comes into its own on school trips and residentials.

I acknowledge that in recent years, school has not been as proactive as it should when it comes to using the Website or Twitter Accounts to keep you updated and I apologise for this. I have set up new year group Twitter accounts this year in keeping with our new website and in an effort for you to see what all the children in your child’s year at school are doing.

This will of course mean that you will not see your child’s class in every photograph but you will see the type of activities they have been doing and can use these pics as a conversation starter when they shrug and say they haven’t done anything today, you will know different.

For anyone not using Twitter already, it can be used on any internet enabled device, phones, tablets and computers and sometimes even on smart TVs and Games Consoles.

While you can just browse to the sites using the links below, if you do set up your own Twitter Account, you will be able to follow the school account and get updates delivered live to your own devices.

Year 3: https://twitter.com/rjsyear3

Year 4: https://twitter.com/rjsyear4

Year 5: https://twitter.com/rjsyear5

Year 6: https://twitter.com/rjsyear6

If you already use Twitter and simply want to follow the accounts, search for the following:

Year 3: @RJSyear3

Year 4: @RJSyear4

Year 5: @RJSyear5

Year 6: @RJSyear6

I must stress that we will only be using the Twitter accounts for one way communication only. We will not be responding to any contact made through twitter so if you wish to contact your child’s teacher, please use the info@rosehill.org.uk address as outlined earlier. This is to ensure we avoid messages and important information.

Yours sincerley,

Adrian Hayes
