End of Autumn 2 Week 4 Messages and Updates

Another lovely week in Year 5!

Christmas play practice has begun! It has been wonderful learning and practising our songs. The children have really enjoyed it, and we can't wait to see the finished product.

We learnt about earthquakes and tsunamis as part of our Geography unit this week, in which the children enjoyed designing evacuation kits for natural disasters.

We have continued developing our structures in D+T. Even when challenges have arisen, children have used critical thinking and problem-solving skills when facing difficulties with building their design. We have also seen some amazing examples of supporting their peers and teamwork.

Notices:

Assessment week is next week for Y5. This is a chance for the children to shine, and we know they will all try their very best.

The children need their P.E. kits on Thursday this week, although we do ask them to be in school all week if possible. Earrings should be removed before school on P.E. days please.

All children need their library books on Wednesday.

Next week's learning:
- We will be carrying out assessments in maths, reading, spelling and SPaG.
- In geography, we will be finishing our unit on 'Tectonic plates, Earthquakes and Volcanoes'.
- In music, we will continue our unit looking at 'Living on a prayer'.
- In P.E. we will continue our units on netball and gymnastics
- In D+T, we will continue constructing our bird hide models.
