Kingswood 2024

What an amazing time we had during our residential visit to Kingswood!

On Monday 30th September, Y5 met in the school hall, packed and ready for the adventure of a lifetime. The weather outside was doing its best to dampen spirits and there were a few last-minute nerves about leaving parents and carers but five minutes into the coach journey, the sounds of excited chatter and laughter filled the air.

The rain continued to fall throughout the morning as the children tackled their first activities of the day - problem solving and shelter building - but a little water wasn't going to stop children from Rosehill throwing themselves into the tasks and rising to the challenges they were faced with.

A brief respite from the weather was taken as lunch was enjoyed and the children were shown their rooms before togging up again for another round of activities.

The afternoon activities consisted of archery, problem solving, shelter building and fire lighting all of which were extremely challenging due to the constant rain - the shelter building group reported seeing an elderly gentleman in the woods collecting wood and building a large ark-like structure! Despite the weather, the children were showing excellent resilience, teamwork and togetherness as they showed just what children from Rosehill are capable of when faced with challenges.

Following a lovely evening meal, the children enjoyed a scrapheap challenge and then headed for some much-needed rest.
On Tuesday morning, the rain had finally eased so the children headed back out and enjoyed a range of different activities including bouldering, a leap of faith, a zip line and fencing. The children had so much fun and enjoyed all the opportunities they were faced with. We finished Tuesday with a fantastic disco and then headed to bed ready to face our final challenges of the week.

Wednesday saw the best weather of the week and we headed back out to try our hands at laser tag, the 3G swing, archery and the leap of faith. The children were in great spirits and thoroughly enjoyed the final activities before it was time for a quick lunch, a final collection of kit and then hopping back on the coach to meet their parents and carers in an emotional but happy embrace.

It is hard to put into words just how proud we are of the children. They rose to the challenges before them in typical Rosehill fashion. They have made memories which will last a lifetime and showed what they are capable of.
