End of Autumn 1 Week 2 Messages and Updates

The children have continued with the great start they have made to their time in year 5 culminating with a very enjoyable Roald Dahl day on Friday.

End of Autumn 1 Week 2 Messages and Updates
We've had a wonderful week in Year 5 with lots of exciting learning taking place!

Highlights this week have included our first spelling tests which the children have done really well in, investigating thermal insulators and conductors, attempting to recreate the Parthenon Frieze in art and planning our own persuasive leaflets in English.

Notices:

All children need their PE kits for Monday and Thursday although we do ask them to be in school all week if possible.

All children need their library books on Wednesday.

We're now only 2 weeks away from our residential visit so we are carrying out kit checks next week as well as collecting any medical forms for children who need to take any form of medication whilst on the residential with us.

Next week's learning:
- In maths, we will continue our learning of place value.
- In English, we will continue writing our own persuasive travel brochures, using our editing buddies for the first time.
- In reading, we will continue to analyse the story 'Malamander'.
- In history, we will look at what made Athens so strong as we continue to learn about Ancient Greece.
- In Spanish, we will continue to learn about pets.
- In art, we will create our own printing blocks inspired by patterns from Ancient Greece.
- In computing, we will start to learn about computer systems.
- In science, we continue to learn about the properties of materials, focussing on electrical conductors and insulators.
- In P.E. we will continue developing our skills in tag rugby.
- In P.S.H.E. we will start looking at what respect is and how we show it to ourselves and others.
