End of Autumn 1 Week 1 Message and Updates
We've had a wonderful week in Year 5 with lots of exciting learning taking place! 

Highlights this week have included finding out about the different properties of materials in science, introducing the children to the Parthenon Frieze in art and looking at examples of travel brochures in English.

Notices:

All children need their PE kits for Monday and Thursday although we do ask them to be in school all week if possible. 

All children need their library books on Wednesday.

We're now only 3 weeks away from our residential visit so watch out for upcoming payment deadlines (£70 by Friday 6th September and the remaining balance by Friday 21st September). Also if any of the children attending the trip have had any new medical conditions develop over the summer holidays, please make class teachers aware of this.

Next week's learning:
- In maths, we will continue our learning of place value.
- In English, we will start gathering ideas for, planning and then writing our own persuasive travel brochures.
- In reading, we will continue to analyse the story 'Malamander'.
- In history, we will continue to learn about Ancient Greece.
- In Spanish, we will start to learn about pets.
- In art, we will continue our learning about the Parthenon Frieze.
- In computing, we will start to learn about computer systems.
- In science, we continue to learn about the properties of materials, focussing on thermal conductors and insulators.
- In P.E. we will continue developing our skills in hockey.
- In P.S.H.E. we will start looking at what makes a healthy friendship.
