Weekly Update for Y3

Spring Term - Week 3 - Weekly Update
Thank you to all our parents/carers who attended the teacher appointments this week - it was great to be able to speak with you. The children had a wonderful week exploring the Wildlife Area, tasting different bread and identifying famous landmarks around the world. 

Notices:

• On Wednesday the 6th March we will be holding our Spring Disco. The Year 3 disco is straight from school at 3.15pm until 4.30pm. The children can bring their disco clothes to school with them and get changed at the end of the day. The entry fee for the disco is £1 and hot dogs, crisps and drinks will also be available to buy.
• We celebrate World Book Day on Thursday next week, and we will be taking part in our Readathon challenges throughout the day. Children can come dressed up as their favourite book character. More information is available on the letter on the school website.
• All children need their PE kit on Thursdays this week.
• All children need their library books on Wednesday, please with reading journals. Reading journals should be in school every day along with a water bottle. 
• In Design and Technology we will be tasting a variety of different continental meats this week. If your child has any allergies or intolerances could you please contact school before lunchtime on Monday 4th March 2024. 

  This week's learning:
  - In Maths, we will be continuing our unit on fractions, exploring halves, quarters and thirds. 
  - In English, we will be continuing to look at different poetry types and creating our own version of famous poems. 

  - In Reading, we will be analysing a non-fiction text on famous landmarks in the UK and around the world. 

  - In PSHE, we are learning about how we can keep ourselves healthy through food and diet.
  - In Geography, we will be researching famous human features. 
  - In RE, we will continue looking at the religion of Hinduism and how Hindu's worship.

  - In Design technology, we will be starting our new Food unit. Please keep your eyes out for emails from your child's class teacher around allergies and taste testing.

We hope our lovely children have a restful and enjoyable weekend after a busy week at school. We've got some exciting things planned for next week, and we cannot wait to do them with you.
