Year 4 have been preparing to make their own healthy sandwiches as part of their design and technology project this term.

So far they have researched what products are currently on the market, looking at a range of websites for different companies, finding out what different types of bread based products they offer and what fillings they use.

The children then taste tested a range of breads so that they could choose which bread they would like to use for their sandwiches.

This week saw the children design their own sandwich, choosing both the breads and the fillings that they would like to use with the stipulation that they must make a healthy sandwich.

In their final lesson before making the sandwiches, the children learnt and then practised a range of techniques they may need when preparing and then assembling the ingredients for their healthy sandwiches. These included different cutting techniques, mashing, spreading and grating.
